Rainout Policy

We will post the notice on the home page by 5 pm the day of the rainout.

Don't panic if there is a shower at 3:00 in the afternoon.  It may very well pass before 6:30.  We will make a final call as to rainout notice just before 5:00pm.  If there is anyway we can be sure of a rainout we will post the notice. On those  borderline days the players that are present at about 6:15pm will decide.   Emails from players asking if we play tonight will not be answered.  As a volunteer organization you can appreciate that board members / volunteers have other jobs and don't have time to answer 50 emails asking if we play tonight.  We are players too and don't want to drive across town if we are just going to call it a rainout anyway.

Sometimes we can look at satellite data on theweathernetwork.com and see that the storm will pass before league play.  Looking out your window at 3:00 you can not always tell what will happen at 6:30.  The weather network has a cool satellite feature that shows the clouds in real time and now have a beta version that predicts the cloud locations a few hours into the future.  Still, with all this technology, we can not always be sure of the weather.  We may start the night only to be rained out half way through.  Or bad storm may come through parts of Calgary, but miss our courts.

The rainout notice on our home page is for situations when we absolutely know we can not play.
1. Like when it's freezing cold or the courts are covered in snow.
2. Like when it's not raining but the courts are flooded from a torrential downpour.
3. Like when it's not flooded but is raining all over the city (not just isolated showers)

Warm weather and passing storms or isolated showers means we need to wait until we get on site at 6:15.
You never know with Calgary.  The weather can change in an hour.
So Don't Panic! We are doing the best we can ...Richard
